Servers with popular content are usually highly loaded both in terms
of the I/O subsystem of the hardware and the bandwidth consumtion of
the network. Due to strict limitations imposed on these factors, we
are grateful for offers to mirror our directories on publically 
available servers for the non-commercial purpose of providing
download service.

If you feel so inclined and wish to mirror this server or parts of
it, then feel free to do so. We currently cannot offer any public
rsync service since rsync's memory consumtion and the quick succession
of page faults while building the file list would severely impact the
overall performance of the server if there are several hundred downloads
activei at the same time.

However, if your resources allow to publically announce the presence of
your server on our mirrors list, then please contact us so that we can
arrange rsync access. We have a low-volume mailinglist for all mirror
admins that has no spam and that is (almost) exclusively used to announce
the availiablility of a new tree in advance. The purpose is to have the 
mirrors informed prior to changes that might affect the structure of
the directories as well as the load imposed by (temporarily) increasing
accesses.
Since security updates require timely synchronization with the primary
mirror, it would make sense to contact ftpadmin@suse.com in any case
if you wish to mirror. So please feel free to do so.
